We are looking for

We are looking to employ a talented Data Engineer to join our expanding Data Services team to undertake a range of data processing activities. The processing, anonymisation and preparation of data, in a regulated and controlled manner, is an important focus for the company to help support ongoing data analysis and research of real-world Ophthalmology EMR datasets.
 
The successful candidate will be thorough and systematic with a keen eye for detail. Excellent technical ability and a proven aptitude for problem-solving are essential. They will be proactive in their approach and confident dealing with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external alike.

We don’t expect specific knowledge of ophthalmology, but we’re looking for a quick learner who is genuinely excited about our product, our market, and how we can improve the practice of specialist eye care.  Personal development is a priority for Medisoft, and we encourage our team to develop their skills.

Your responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining processes/routines to support the extraction of large, complex clinical datasets
  • Anonymisation / Pseudonymisation of data sets at source
  • Transfer of data between source and destination using appropriate methods such as flat file transfer
  • Loading, merging and validation of extracted data sets
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve data errors / discrepancies
  • Enhance productive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and timeliness are not compromised.
  • Ensure confidentiality and information governance policies are strictly adhered to when working with sensitive data.
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate documentation e.g., data dictionaries, and ensure that such documentation is kept up to date
  • Working in a development team alongside Business Analysts, Developers and Testers, to deliver well-modelled and high-quality products
  • Working closely with all relevant departments and stakeholders across the business, to ensure that solutions are developed and implemented to a high quality with all required functionality
  • Reporting on progress and demonstrating new developments to key stakeholders and customers
  • Maintaining productive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders

Your qualifications

  • A degree level qualification would be desireable

Your profile

  • In-depth working knowledge and experience working with relational databases
  • Advanced MS SQL Server skillset (T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, dynamic SQL)
  • Working knowledge of data integration tools to support ETL processes such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Experience of working with large or complex datasets; manipulating and transforming data and building data pipelines. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on quality
  • Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn new skills and develop within the role as required.
 
Desirable additional criteria:

  • Experience of working with Healthcare datasets and coding definitions 
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning Techniques and/or Deep Learning methods, including image-based algorithms
  • Additional key technical skills e.g. XML, .NET, JavaScript, C#, Python
