We are looking for a SQL / BI developer to work on our data warehouse and Business Intelligence systems. Our EMR data sources are designed specifically to capture most data items in a structured and consistent manner, and it is imperative that our integrated BI solutions can provide access to accurate and reliable reporting. 
You will help to shape the development of new Business Intelligence (BI) systems and data integrations across a range of key projects. This will include the development of accurate reporting and robust data integrations.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the company in a key role, with opportunities to work across our expanding Data Services team on a range of projects.

We don’t expect specific knowledge of ophthalmology, but we’re looking for a quick learner who is genuinely excited about our product, our market, and how we can improve the practice of specialist eye care.  Personal development is a priority for Medisoft, and we encourage our team to develop their skills.

Your responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:
  • Design, development and implementation of BI solutions and data integrations
  • Contributing to the delivery of the Data Services roadmap
  • Working in a development team alongside Business Analysts, Developers and Testers, to deliver well-modelled and high-quality products
  • Working closely with all relevant departments and stakeholders across the business, to ensure that solutions are developed and implemented to a high quality with all required functionality
  • Reporting on progress and demonstrating new developments to key stakeholders and customers
  • Ensuring that confidentiality and information governance policies are strictly adhered to when working with sensitive data
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate documentation e.g., architectural designs and schema documentation, and ensuring that such documentation is kept up to date
  • Maintaining productive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
Additional tasks/responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining, developing, evaluating, and enhancing existing BI solutions including data warehouses (SQL Server), ETL processes (SSIS) and end-user reporting (SSRS)
  • As required, assisting with testing/quality assurance of BI solutions

Your qualifications

The successful candidate will have experience of MS SQL, with a proven ability of working with data and relational databases. They will be proactive in their approach and confident dealing with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external alike. A keen interest in Business Intelligence is essential.

Your profile

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience working with relational databases
  • MS SQL Server skillset (T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, dynamic SQL)
  • Experience of working with large or complex datasets; manipulating and transforming data 
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on quality
  • Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong work ethic
Desirable additional criteria:
  • Experience using components of the Microsoft BI Stack - SSIS, SSRS
  • Experience of data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modelling) 
  • Development using Agile methodology and supporting tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Experience of modelling health data / clinical data
  • Competent in code management and version control systems (e.g., GIT)
  • Experience in cloud computing e.g. Azure 
  • Exposure to statistical platforms such as R, SAS, Python
