We are looking for

We are looking for a SQL Developer with a keen eye for detail.  The role will focus primarily on our long-term projects migrating customers to our new system, and merging instances of our system together.  There will likely be exposure to other SQL-related areas such as on-site implementations, database design and optimisation, data transformation/import, support escalations and Business Intelligence.

We don’t expect specific knowledge of ophthalmology, but we’re looking for a quick learner who is genuinely excited about our product, our market, and how we can improve the practice of specialist eye care.  Personal development is a priority for Medisoft, and we encourage our team to develop their skills.
 
The role is based at our offices in Leeds, but occasional travel may be required.  Some of the work on live systems must take place outside normal office hours.

Your responsibilities

Regular responsibilities include:
  • Development of data migration scripts to support further mediSIGHT features as they are released, including building understanding of the two systems’ schema;
  • Running, validating, troubleshooting and refining test and live migrations and merges;
  • Collaborating with internal project team members, understanding timescales and constraints and providing clear status updates, together pushing to deliver successful and robust migrations on time.

Your qualifications

A qualification to degree leel would be desireable.

Your profile

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
  • Strong ability to create advanced yet readable SQL code that is efficient in construction and in execution on large datasets
  • Deep knowledge of optimising SQL code, databases and environments
  • Understanding of the importance of data integrity
  • Ability to identify requirements, and implement strategies, for data cleansing
  • Strong initiative and proven ability to apply judgement
  • Aptitude for problem-solving
  • Ability to create and maintain clear and professional technical documentation
Desirable additional experience:
  • Redgate SQL tools
  • Healthcare IT, such as clinical data sets (SNOMED + DM & D) or HL7 messaging
  • Designing or administering highly-available server and database environment
  • Using the range of SQL services in Microsoft Azure
  • Azure DevOps (TFS) and Visual Studio.
